About Me
I am River Sutaria, a spoken-word performer, author, poetry curator at Button Poetry, and teaching artist at Creator School in Silicon Valley, California. My artistic journey and experiences inspire me to guide others toward emotional empowerment through creative writing.
As a coach educated through The Trevor Project CARE (Connect, Accept, Respond, Empower) Training program, I am well-versed in advocacy, mental health, and LGBTQ+ issues. This has given me the gift of offering my clients an informed, inclusive, and safe space to process their struggles and transform them into compelling narratives.
My debut novella, it hurts to breathe, which encompasses subjects such as intergenerational trauma, abortion, and gender identity, earned recognition at Foothill College’s 6th Annual Research, Service, and Leadership Symposium. Through creating such works of art and mentorship, I explore themes of resilience, healing, and hope. Whether through prose or poetry, I strive to encourage others to embrace their truth and find strength in their stories.
